Every school team is required to have a sponsor who is a certified member of the school staff.

In most cases that school sponsor has very little experience coaching and instructing bowling.  In these instances, the bowling industry provides an experienced coach who has been trained and certified by USBC Coaching.  However, certification is not required, only encouraged.

Regardless of who assumes this responsibility, additional certification in CPR and first aid, as well as completion of the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course is recommended.
