History of AZ High School Bowling

In 2000 the AZ Bowling Proprietors voted to create the AZ High School Bowling Program.  Since its inception, the AZ HSB program has been provided free of charge to the schools by the AZ Bowling Proprietors.  Bowling fees, uniforms and awards have been provided to the athletes.

Tucson began the first Conference in 2001 with 10 schools which has steadily grown each year to its current level of 18.  The Phoenix Division floored in 2002 with 12 schools and currently operates at 6 schools.

State Champions were first crowned in 2003-04.  The match is hosted alternatively each year by Phoenix and Tucson.  The 2007-08 State Championships will be hosted by Tucson on February 16, 2008 in a bowling center to be announced..

A Booster Club was created in the spring of 2007.  Through it, fundraising activities have begun and will continue so that when the Arizona Interscholastic Association reviews bowling for inclusion with other varsity level sports, accepted funding mechanisms will be in place.
